  1. Take 2 Cups Lentils (pre-soaked overnight)
  2. Take 1 diced onion
  3. Get 1 chopped tomato
  4. Use 2 garlic cloves
  5. Use Grated ginger paste
  6. You need 2 whole chillies
  7. Get Mustard seeds
  8. Prepare Cumin seeds
  9. Use sticks Cinnamon
  10. Get Rosemary
  11. Get Thyme

  13. Take 5 tablespoons Olive/Coconut oil
  14. Take 4 cups water
Steps to make Spicy Lentil Soup:
  1. Heat 4 tablespoons of oil and add the diced onions, ginger paste, garlic and chillies, stir till golden brown.
  2. Add Lentils and Rosemary/ Thyme, and continue to stir for 5 min
  3. Add tomato and cover for 5 min, when tomato is really soft, stir so that everything mixes evenly.
  4. Then add the 4 cups of water. And leave to boil for 20 min
  5. In separate pan, heat one tablespoon of oil, add mustard seeds, wait for them to pop, then add cumin seeds and cinnamon sticks.
  6. Add above mixture to the pot with the lentils and leave to continue boiling for 1hr 10min.
  7. If water is done and the lentils are still a little hard, add more water and continue to boil until the lentils are soft
  8. Leave to boil until contents of the pot are thick and not runny…
  9. Garnish with Rosemary/ Thyme…
