The ingredients needed to make Dorest Apple Cake:
  1. Provide 120 g chilled butter, diced into small cubes
  2. Get 230 g self-raising flour
  3. Take 2 tsp sweet ground cinnamon
  4. Use 120 g dark brown sugar
  5. Prepare 1 egg, beaten
  6. Get 5-8 tbsp milk
  7. Prepare 300 g apples such as Bramley, peeled and diced

  5. Allow to cool until able to handle cake tin with hands. Carefully transfer to a cooling rack.
  6. Serve with custard or cream. It is better when the cake is warm.
