Many of us have been taught to think that comfort foods are bad and are to be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be altogether nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. There are a number of foods that, when you consume them, can better your mood. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, try some of these.

Put together a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to elevate your mood. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which boosts your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The higher your levels of serotonin, the better you are going to feel. Nuts, along with bettering your mood, can be a super source of protein.
