- Put Vegetable Oil into a clean Roasting Tin and make hot in the oven at Gas Mark 6.Rinse the raw whole chicken in the sink under a cold running tap,rinse the inside as well and then take the Roasting Tin out of the oven and then dunk the top of the chicken into the very hot Vegetable Oil and then rest it - at the bottom of the Roasting Tin on the bottom most part of the raw chicken,add sea salt to the top of the oiled chicken skin and then add black pepper,continue too roast for 2 hours.
